Persistent nature of nature

Digital photographs printed 24"x36" and 36"x24"

This series features images gathered mostly in São Paulo, Brazil.

These large-scale color photographs depict tree root systems and limbs, plants, and wildflowers encroaching on the built environment of this major city.

Gund’s images remind us that man’s impulse to control nature is often defeated in small, seemingly insignificant ways, and only those who look closely are able to notice how forcefully and beautifully nature rebounds.
